I finally made it to the new Fashion Outlets of Chicago, and I have to say it was well worth the drive. If you haven’t been there yet, you need to put it on your list of places to go. Unlike most outlet malls, this one is all indoors which is key for Chicago winters which last like six months! We all love the way the mall was laid out too. They put all the high end designer stores on the second floor (which the exception of Saks Off Fifth) and the more moderately priced stores on the first floor.
Give yourself at least four hours to shop, eight hours would be best. Seriously, you’ll want the time! Check out the directory of women’s stores at this place! My favorite store and that of my friends who were along was definitely the Tory Burch Outlet. This place rocks!
We simply could not get over the selection of merchandise here. But my word of advice is to get there early. It was our first stop when we got to the mall (10:15am on a Friday) and it was us and few others in the store. We put a bunch of stuff on hold and came back at the end of our shopping (didn’t want to blow our wad on the first store we went into). When we came back at 2:30pm, the store was so crowded you could hardly move. Not a fun shopping expericnce. This picture above is just of some of the shoes. They had a great selection of clothes, including the blouse I bought above (you can’t see it real well in the picture, but it has the Tory emblem on all the buttons – LOVE) and tons of the signature Tory Burch clutches like the one I’m carrying here. Evidently, they’re phasing this purse out because it’s no longer available at places like Nordstrom, but they have every color and style available at the outlet and at a discount I might add. Both of my friends picked one up.
Here are a few more picts of the mall:
The other “must hit” stores I would say were Neiman Marcus Last Call and Bloomingdale’s The Outlet Store. Both were huge and had great bargains. The outlet mall itself only has one fine dining “sit down” restaurant, Villagio. I hear it’s fantastic and it gets great reviews on Yelp. Just make sure to get a reservation because it books up. Otherwise, the mall does have a food court.
I’m definitely going to hit this place one more time before the holidays. It’s a great way to spend the day. You just have to be careful. You know how these outlets can be – you think you’re getting such a great deal you end up buying things you really don’t need or love. I always try to keep myself in line by going with a strict budget and really asking myself, “Will I love this when I get home or am I just buying this because it’s a great deal?”
