I’m Wearing: Caché Turtleneck, Christopher Blue Travolta Velvet Jean, Donald J. Pliner Bootie (similar), BCBGMaxazria Necklace, Michael Kors Runway Watch, Assorted Charming Charlie’s Bracelets.

I know it was the first day of spring on Friday, but it was like 9 degrees here in Chicago on Saturday night and you can’t fault a girl for wanting to stay warm can you? Even though I’m was so itching to break out some bright light-weight spring clothes, I went for a turtleneck and cozy velvet jeans!

I love these jeans. Believe it or not, I picked them up on a sample sale for $39.99 at the Clothes Gallery, a local boutique near my house. They’re still available on-line through Neiman Marcus, and while they’re marked way down,  I couldn’t find them anywhere as inexpensively as I scored them. Sorry, ladies…

There’s just something about the fit and feel of Christopher Blue. They’re made with this awesome stretch fabric that gives the perfect fit, and they don’t loose their shape after you wash them. They’re super comfy and you know me, I love animal print! Paired with a turtleneck and booties it’s classic with a little zing.

I hope your week’s shaping up well. I’m predicting a snow day for my kids tomorrow, so things might be a little crazy around here.

This week on MLWS I’m going to be talking about shopping for spring break and other warm weather vacations (YES!), mascara (my fav lash care products) and my new venture as a coach for Girls on the Run (can’t wait!). It’s going to be a great fun…stay tuned and stay warm!

Hope you enjoyed your first GOTR coaching experience! I have a fashion question…
I really would like to wear a heeled bootie with jeans but I am not very tall (5’5″) and dont have long legs at all….how can I pull off this look?

Hi tkro, my first day of coaching GOTR was AWESOME! I love this organization and I love to help empower girls! I’m so excited for this opportunity! Regarding your fashion question about wearing heeled booties with jeans when you’re not very tall and don’t have long legs. The way to make your leg look elongated is to match the color of the pant with the boot or go with a slightly darker colored boot. I also suggest NOT cuffing the jean. This will create a cut-off point and make your leg look shorter. Finally, if you can, select a jean or pant with vertical stripes. Patterned jeans and dress pants are really in right now, so this would also be a great way to update your wardrobe and look awesome! Hope this helps!!! (P.S. I’m going to use your question on the blog and with pictures to illustrate my points here. This was a great question. Thanks for submitting it!)

Wow, such a nice look. Subtle, but still pretty fun with the print. Love it!
BTW….tell tkro that 5’5″ is PLENTY TALL!!!!! We can not use you, and your endless legs as our benchmark!! So not fair!!

I know, I feel the same about TKR and her height! But I did give her some pointers that I think will help. Glad you liked the leopard print velvet pants. I thought the outfit was kind of low key, but a lot of readers really liked it. I was kind of surprised.
