I’m Wearing:: Athleta Plaid Dolomite Jacket, Turtleneck and Zip Sweater, Athleta Snow Cruiser Pant, Beanie – old, Snow Boots – old.

Happy Friday! What a crazy week…the kids were off on Monday and I was in Wisconsin with my parents all day Wednesday, so I fell a little behind on the blog. Any how, I’m back and remember the mild winter I’ve been talking about here in Chicago? Well, it’s been replaced with an arctic blast. You know it’s cold out when you have to pull your ski clothes out to walk the dog! While I was all geared up, I thought I’d snap some pictures of this great Athleta ski outfit my hubby got me for Christmas.  I was really hoping I’d have some slope-side pictures to share with you, but we haven’t been able to find a ski resort with enough snow to make it worth our while to take a trip this season – what’s up with that?

Being from the midwest where the winters are usually fiercely cold, I’ve never owned a mid-weight ski jacket and pants. Last year, we went out to Steamboat skiing over spring break, and I was roasting. Knowing we might be going back out this spring, my most thoughtful husband picked out this outfit for me for Christmas. It’s from Athleta and if you don’t already know, I’m a huge Athleta fan. Don’t believe me? Just check out my collection of Athleta clothing in this blog post! Anyhow, let me talk about the outift. I love the jacket. You can wear it with a single layer or bulk up underneath for more warmth. It’s made from this really comfy stretchy material and it’s water and wind resistant. I think all the torquoise trim and zipper detailing totally make the jacket. It also comes in three other great colors and a plaid. You have to check it out.

The Snow Cruiser pants are fabulous too. They’re also designed with a great mid-weight fabric that can be layered with long-johns to add warmth. Again so comfortable, stretchy and stylish. I personally like the bootcut. They’re great for any type of winter outdoor activity from walking the dog to hiking.

And the turtleneck – they call it luscious and it truly is. This has become my go-to top for anything outdoors this winter. It’s so soft and cozy and I love the longer length and the flattering side shirring (you can’t see under the coat) to hide my mommy tummy! It’s simply a great base layer and to make it even better it comes in several fun colors AND it’s on sale!

I’d say the hubby did pretty well, what do you think?

So just curious, do you ski? I didn’t learn to ski until I was in my mid-twenties and I’d say I have a love/hate relationship with it. I love to do it, but at the age of 45, I hate the thought of getting hurt. Every time I go out I say a little prayer that I don’t end up taking out a knee or something (hopefully I’m not jinxing myself talking about this!), but I guess you can’t live life that way, can you? Plus, with a husband and three kids who love to do it, I don’t really have a choice. On the upside, when I get tired, it’s always good to know I can sit and relax in a cozy ski lodge or better yet, go shopping in the mountain ski shops! You know me, always looking for a shopping opportunity!

Before I go, I just wanted to tell you I haven’t forgotten about the giveaway! Look for details in the next 24 hours!!!

Thanks so much! I remembered you talking about going. Glad to hear it was a success. Skiing is definitely fun, I agree. Just wish I could get past my “fear factor”!

You look fab! We had an ice storm over night. Another Friday off for the kids! Hope you get some warm weather soon.

    • MyLifeShopping

Thanks, Carol. An ice storm now? You seem to be having a hard winter. We have an ice storm predicted here tomorrow (Sunday), unfortunately they’re predicting it will be cleared by Monday so my kids probably won’t get so lucky as to have a snow day. Ya, it’s supposed to be 50 and thunderstorms by mid-week – crazy Chicago weather!

Love the sunglasses too – nothing complements outdoor attire like a great pair of shades!

Thanks, Kirsten! Have you been skiing yet this season?

Hmmm…ski OUTFIT!!! That’s fab. My husband got me ski SOCKS. YES, just the socks for Christmas. And we can’t go skiing this year because HE threw his back out. Oh well. Love the outfit your hubby gave you. I can’t believe he even picked a shirt that matched the trim on the jacket…TELL ME HE HAD HELP!
I now have SOOOOO many Athleta outfits, I could start my own fashion blog dedicated entirely to Athleta outfits. And none of them are even for exercise…they are all just around-town kinds of outfits. And don’t get me started on the swimwear….yikes!

    • MyLifeShopping

Socks…I’m sure they were extra special sock, right? Bummer that he threw his back out! Yes, the hubby is pretty good with clothing selections I have to say! I know what you mean about Athleta clothes. That’s one of the things that so great about them – you can wear them as run-around clothes and as work-out clothes. In my mind, you can never have enough Athleta clothes.

  • Betsy

Another GREAT thing about Athleta…if those pants are too long (I’m sure NEVER a problem for YOU)…FREE ALTERATIONS!!

    • MyLifeShopping

Really?? I didn’t know that! And no, you’re right, I don’t usually have that problem.
