Pale pink is having a moment this fall/winter and it makes for a really great transitional color for fall too. Late August and September can be really tricky for dressing. You don’t want to look too summery, but at the same time, it seems a little early to pull out the wool sweater and boots. That’s why I love this look. First off, the pale pink blazer is right on trend. Pale pink is showing up everywhere from clothing to accessories (click on the photo for outfit details):
Secondly, I like this outfit because it moves easily from warmer day to cooler night with the layering power of the jacket. And finally, the closed toe pump adds some glamour to the skinny cuffed jeans without looking too summery.
I get a lot of questions from my friends about what to wear this time of year. I’m not a professional, but my general rule of thumb is if it’s cold and dreary I tend to dress in more fall colors and textures and if it’s in the 90’s, well, I stay with my summer looks sometimes opting for pieces in more subdued “natural” tones (think olive, tan, gold, maroon, navy). How do you handle these transitional days of fall? I’d love to know your fashion forward thoughts!
