Colored highlights made with sidewalk chalk, who knew?? Since I posted this picture and directions for hair chalking on Pinterest, it has received over 150 repins. I thought I should also share it on my blog. Being 45, I’m not huge into putting colored highlights in my hair, but there are definitely “certain” occasions when an “old hag” as my 8 year-old so lovingly calls me, can make colored highlights work — St. Patty’s day, that special football game. Whatever – I do have two tween girls who are totally into this kind of thing, so it’s great for them!
Thanks to Kristen at Genacelli’s Salon, Chicago for sharing this trick with me!
Simply dampen a small bunch of hair and twist it. Hold the twisted hair tight against a flat surface. Dip the end of a piece of sidewalk chalk in water and draw down the strand. Twist the strand until all sides are colored. To set the color, iron with a curling or straight iron and spray with light amount of hair spray. Unlike some of the colored sprays, the chalk washes out clean even on blonde hair and the most porous color treated hair.
