If you’ve been following my blog, you know how much I love everything fashion and glam. So when my husband and kids gifted me a Vitamix blender last Mother’s Day, I have to be honest, I was less than thrilled. Other than a handmade gift from my kids, I was secretly hoping for something that started with “DAVID” and ended with “Yurman”, and last I heard David doesn’t make blenders!
Needless to say, I hid my disappointment and embraced my new blender. Since then, it has become my most coveted kitchen appliance. This machine is amazing. It’s a blender and a juicer all in one. And my favorite thing to make in my Vitamix blender? Smoothies, of course!
I don’t know about you, but I’ve been a little naughty when it comes to sneaking my kids Halloween candy and I’ve been secretly buying a bag of candy corn on every trip to Walgreens since it hit the shelves in August. To make up for my poor eating and to prepare for all the holiday parties that are less than a month away, I’ve decided to make an effort to clean up my eating and start drinking a green smoothie every day.
I have a recipe for the best tasting green smoothie around. What I like about this recipe is it combines healthy greens that I wouldn’t otherwise eat with fruits to arrive at a smoothie that tastes good and is good for you!
Here are the ingredients: 2 bananas, 2-3 medium apples, 1 large stalk of celery, 1 handful of spinach, 2-3 leaves of kale and 32 oz. of ice.
All you do is put everything into the Vitamix (apples cored but not peeled).
Blend and this is what you get:
Don’t let the green color scare you. It’s delicious and it makes the perfect base in which to add protein based ingredients like flax seed or your favorite protein powder.
This recipe yields two 16-20 ounce servings.
Do you have a favorite green smoothie recipe? I’d love to hear about it. Please share it here!
